Overcoming Anxiety: Poetry for Those Desiring Peace Within

Overcoming Anxiety.png

It makes me question everything.

Is he/she for me or do they want to steal what belongs to me?

Insecurity.

Could it really be the one who dwells within warning that danger lies ahead?

Discernment.

Holy Spirit showed me this would happen or was it just my mind playing tricks on me?

Guidance.

Lord, I need You to differentiate the voices from Your voice. It's too much noise.

Focus.

Quiet the storms inside me. I'm restless. It's just a test.

Trust.

I know I'm supposed to trust You, but anxiety makes me untrusting of others intentions towards me.

Silence.

Speak Lord, Your servant is listening.

Stillness.

“Be still and know that I am God.” But these thoughts keep racing. Lord I'm trying.

Calm.

Your Word is better to me than anything I tried to use to self-medicate. No longer allowing the thoughts to overtake me.

Peace.

Finally, I have enough peace to rest while here on earth so I protect it.

Anxiety, you no longer rule over me. God spoke these words to me loud and clear, “Be anxious for nothing. Instead, pray about everything.”

Thankful.

The scriptures referenced in this text are:

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalms 46:10 NLT

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6 NIV

May they be a blessing to you as they are to me. Years ago, Anxiety and Depression had me bound, but God! I learned to use the greatest weapon we have for warfare, His word, to combat the negative thinking. When either attempts to rob me of my peace, these are two of the scriptures that I stand on. Some other tools that help me include journaling and writing poetry. To read more of my published work visit my Bookstore or Amazon.
