Overcoming the Comparison Trap: Measuring Your Success - Then & Now
Have you ever struggled with being too hard on yourself? I noticed that whenever I compared myself to others and their “perceived” success, that I would experience an increase in symptoms of depression and anxiety. What I have learned is to measure my success by comparing my progress alone. Ask yourself, “Have I made progress since last year this time?” If you prefer, you can even measure your success in increments of 90 days, 60 days, 30 days and set daily goals to reach them. In doing this, I expressed more gratitude for what I was able to complete and was able to give myself grace when needed. Give it a try!
